About me

I am an SNSF Ambizione Fellow in Theoretical Biophysics at EPFL, Switzerland. My research focuses on computational modelling of biological processes at different scales, from single-cell phenomena to collective behaviour of several cell populations. Currently, I am interested in modelling adaptation in active matter and investigating how certain mechanical properties of tissues are selected.

I obtained my PhD from the University of Oxford under the supervision of Prof. Philip Maini, Prof. Helen Byrne, Dr. Sandy Anderson and Dr. Robert Gatenby, MD (Moffitt Cancer Center, USA). My thesis explored the evolutionary dynamics of cancer cells in temporally varying environments. After that, I joined the Niels Bohr Institute, first as an MSCA COFUND Junior Research Fellow and then as an MSCA Individual Fellow. Under the supervision of Prof. Amin Doostmohammadi, I studied the interactions between active matter and its environment in close collaboration with experimental scientists. Finally, I did a short postdoc at Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire de Physique, France, to model CO2 capture with foams (supervised by Dr. Simon Gravelle).

  • Mar 2026 — New preprint 'Cell-induced wrinkling patterns on soft substrates' is available on arXiv! Joint work with Deguchi Lab at the Osaka University, where we develop a model that predicts wrinkling patterns on soft substrate driven by cell-generated stresses.
